What I can offer

I offer psychological therapy, for individuals and couples, based on an understanding of the mind, emotions, behaviour, and relationships, and over 30 years of clinical experience.  I use a range of psychological therapies and aim for collaboration with clients.  Therapy involves you and I meeting in a private consulting room, usually on a weekly or fortnightly basis, to discuss personal issues you wish to address.  Our first meeting will be an assessment session in which I will decide whether your difficulties are something I can help you with, or whether someone else would be more suitable.  It is vitally important that you feel comfortable with your therapist so, following our first meeting, I will encourage you to think about whether I am the right person for you to work with.  If you wish, following the assessment, I can write a brief letter to your GP or specialist doctor to tell them that you are consulting me.

These are some of the areas in which I offer help:

  • managing and adjusting to life-threatening illness (cancer, heart disease, etc.)
  • post-treatment emotional difficulties
  • anxiety disorders (fears, obsessions, phobias, panic attacks etc.)
  • couple or relationship difficulties
  • depression
  • sleep disorders
  • grief and loss
  • post-traumatic stress
  • work-related stress and burnout
